Sarah Nemtanu’s artistic career clearly reflects her generous, inquisitive and enterprising personality: from her orchestral activities to chamber music, from creating festivals to working alongside artists from completely different backgrounds, Sarah Nemtanu is bursting with energy and new ideas. At the age of 16, she left Bordeaux to study at the CNSMD in Paris. She thus benefited from a dual influence: that of her father Vladimir, who studied in Bucharest with Stefan Gheorghiu, heir to the school of David Oïstrakh, and that of her teacher Gérard Poulet, a worthy ambassador of the style and elegance of French playing.

In 2002 she was appointed concertmaster of the Orchestre National de France, a post she has held with great passion for the last 20 years. A series of wonderful encounters has also led her to perform chamber music and as a soloist in some of the world’s finest concert halls and festivals.

Her love of teaching, inherited from her father, plays an important part in her work. She has just been appointed professor at the CNSMD in Paris.
